Kevin McBride - Information Technology
Hello, my name is Kevin McBride. I am a Technical Support Engineer at Isilon/EMC. I support Isilon's NAS systems globally. I have been working at Isilon/EMC for a year and have increased my Networking skills as a whole. I get to work with just about every kind of system; Linux/Unix, Mac, Windows Client and Windows server. I also have had to troubleshoot just about every type of problem. Such as, Firmware/Software upgrade, System re-imaging, Hardware issues, Registry Errors and of course permissions. I have been awarded several accommodations for my excellent customer service by my manager in the past year. I also have been the quickest to be named a Designated Support Engineer in the company.
Before I worked at Isilon/EMC, I was an IT guy in the US Air Force, until an accident left me unable to serve. After I was Honorably Discharged in 2001, the tech bubble burst and I didn't see a sustainable future in the tech industry. I joined my friend who was starting his own hardwood flooring company and was very successful for awhile. Then I decided to start out on my own and open my own Life Insurance Agency, selling mortgage based life insurance. When the housing market crashed, I was forced to shut it down. In 2010, I decided I needed to get into the tech industry once more. I decided to go to Brown College to resharpen my skills and focus my career goals. At Brown I made the Dean's list six times, and was on the Honor Roll the entire time with my 3.85 GPA. My graduation date was March of 2012.
